Converting an internal tool into a public-facing platform with multiple experiences

b2b, b2c, saas, responsive, mobile, branding, research

To meet the challenges of COVID-19, SnapCare (formerly SnapNurse) developed an internal staffing and scheduling system that it used on behalf of healthcare clients to recruit and place nursing staff on short-term assignments. It included a mobile app that healthcare professionals used to accept shift invitations and submit timecards.

As the company pivoted post-pandemic to focus on the long-term care market—and an exciting new managed services offering—it was time to take a holistic look at the existing platform and create two new interfaces.

Telling a better story through a single diagram

In collaboration with the program team, we defined the new service and how the software platform would support it. We then distilled a complex system into a simple diagram that enabled the sales team to explain the benefits and win clients.

Creating a new experience for healthcare facilities...

Combining what we learned from interviews with healthcare clients and SnapCare’s own industry knowledge, we designed a 0→1 new experience for long-term care facilities. It allowed them to create shifts and invite workers from multiple agencies who had been vetted by the program team.

...then making the #1 task over 80% more efficient

After observing user behavior and speaking with the program team, we added several features and streamlined a key user flow which reduced time to create a shift from over a minute to less than 10 seconds.

Jennie and Maddox exemplify creativity, thoughtful collaboration, and meticulous execution in every project they undertake. I've witnessed firsthand their commitment to user-centered design, consistently delivering elegant solutions that bring to life ideas in ways we could not have imagined ourselves. Any team fortunate enough to partner with Integral UX/UI will quickly discover they've gained not just exceptional designers, but strategic thinkers deeply invested in their success.

Improving the ecosystem by enabling participating agencies to earn more revenue

For the program to succeed, SnapCare also needed a way for other staffing agencies to participate. We designed workflows to submit candidates, onboard them into the system, and view their schedules and timecards.

Insights & iteration

Upon feedback from participating agencies, we increased visibility of open shifts that their employees were eligible to fill: improving their ability to earn revenue.

Empowering healthcare workers to manage their own schedules

We redesigned the mobile app to shift the paradigm from “accepting/declining invitations” to “finding and claiming shifts,” giving clinicians more control.

Provided more guidance on the dashboard for new users
Made it easier to scan and compare available shifts
Improved the call-to-action and pay information
Consolidated schedule into the dashboard and streamlined clock-in
